I’m dipping my toe into creating professional development materials, and I am offering these resources free to colleagues who can use them. Episode 1: “I have no idea how to record a podcast”

I created this podcast to provide an overview of the action research my team is conducting on workshop-based instruction. Our first step in this process was to take a close look at Penny Kittle and Kelly Gallagher’s model of reading instruction for a year as detailed in their 2018 text 180 Days: Two Teachers and the Quest to Engage and Empower Adolescents. This follows a presentation our team is giving at the 2022 LILAC/NRC Spring Conference in Melville, NY. In order to validate the model as a viable instructional approach with our population of students, we followed Gallagher & Kittle’s suggested implementation plan beginning in September of 2019.
